Selections from 30 Years of Illustration by I.B. Nelson — 7 a.m., BriarPatch Co-op, 290 Sierra College Dr, Grass Valley. I.B. Nelson has provided illustrative work for Sega of America (Pocket Arcade Games, 1994), King Features Syndicate (The New Breed single panel, 1989 to 2003), The University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners (1982 on), San Jose Mercury, The Alta Sierran (2010-2013), and many more. He was an artist-in-residence in elementary and middle schools, participated in school career days, presented at children’s art festivals, provided art work for library events including the Nevada County Library Walk for Literacy and Readdup Program. The BriarPatch show includes selected works from 30 years of published graphic work.

LeeAnn Brook: ‘Light of Day’ — noon, New Moon Cafe, 203 York St, Nevada City. New large format contemporary landscape paintings by Nevada City fine artist LeeAnn Brook. Her current body of paintings has been developed in her open studio over the past 12 years. Concentrating on large format contemporary paintings, her unique style of landscapes and abstracts resonate with her love of the natural environment. Showing in numerous one-woman shows and several group shows, her work has also included many commissioned pieces for residential and commercial venues. 530-265-6399

‘Diversity’ Paintings by Clay Platner — noon, Smith Vineyard Tasting Room, 142 Mill Street, Grass Valley. Smith Vineyard Tasting Room is showing a collection of original oil paintings by Clay Platner. The collection is diverse featuring cowboys, landscapes, portraits and a koi pond. Artisans Festival — 10 a.m., Miners Foundry, 325 Spring St, Nevada City. For over 35 years, Thanksgiving Weekend in Nevada City has featured the Artisans Festival at Miners Foundry, hosting a small but select group of artists and craftspeople whose quality artwork has attracted a loyal and growing audience of admirers and patrons. The Artisans Festival will be Friday, through Sunday, from 10 a.m. 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $3 for each day or $5 for a weekend pass. 530-265-5040

In this musical comedy, Tony Lauria (Legends To Go) returns to OBS as ‘Frankie Tonini,’ a starry-eyed optimistic singing magician trying to promote laughter with his variety show in spite of the negativity and ineptitude of his two hired assistants (Kris Stepanian and Lyra Dominguez). Playing live sets with guitar, keyboards, flutes, melodica, and vocals, Kaminanda’s music is designed to take the listener/dancer on a journey traversing diverse landscapes reflecting the evolution of our collective consciousness.
