Off Broadstreet kicks off the holidays

Off Broadstreet Theater opens its next production, “Frankie Tonini’s Holiday Variety Show,” this weekend at its Nevada City venue.

Performances are at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays for the next seven weeks with two Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Nov. 24 and Dec. 1.

Tony Lauria returns to Off Broadstreet as “Frankie Tonini,” a starry-eyed optimistic singing magician trying to promote laughter with his variety show in spite of the negativity and ineptitude of his two hired assistants (Kris Stepanian and Lyra Dominguez).

When two dingy guardian angels (Jan Kopp and Nancy Keith) try to help, the situation becomes all the crazier.

Frankie Tonini’s Holiday Variety Show is a delightful treat suitable for all ages, according to Off Broadstreet owner John Driscoll.

Tickets for all Friday and Saturday shows are $25, and matinees are $23.
