Go "Back to the Land" to benefit Bear Yuba Land Trust

Bear Yuba Land Trust and The Center for the Arts will host a “Back to the Land” Dinner and Gala featuring local food from area farms, live music and an art show from 4-6:30 p.m. Sept. 22. The gala is just before the 11th annual Stars at North Star House concert featuring Grammy Award winning New Orleans musicians, Dr. John and Allen Toussaint.

Chef Antonio Ayestaran will prepare a gourmet meal served family style featuring food from conservation lands: Nevada County Free Range Beef and the Food Love Project. Other contributing farms include First Rain Farm, Chaffin Family Orchards and more.

Sweet Roots Farm will supply fresh cut flowers, Leta’s Blues will perform live music and DeGroots Desserts will create a special caramel pear tart.

Local rancher Jim Gates and farmer Amanda Thibodeau will be on hand to chat with guests.

In addition, original pieces of art from local artists, during an exhibit orchestrated by Alicia Funk of Living Wild called, “Inhabit: Art of the Land,” will be available for purchase. Artists will donate 100 percent of their profits from the art show to the land trust.

This is the largest fundraiser of the year for BYLT and supports work conserving land, building trails and offering nature education for children.
