Hundreds protest police shootings in Anaheim

ANAHEIM — Hundreds of people have marched through Anaheim protesting the fatal shooting of two men by police there that prompted several days of unrest.

About 300 protesters gathered at Anaheim City Hall on Sunday and then went to police headquarters.

The march marked the one-year anniversary of the fatal shooting of Manuel Diaz by police.

Diaz was unarmed, but police believed he had a weapon.

A day later police shot and killed Joel Acevedo. Investigations into both shootings found police were justified in their response.

Police said the protest has been peaceful.

Anaheim police were involved in nine shootings last year that led to five deaths.
