Summer Nights return to Nevada City starting this Wednesday

Nevada City’s annual Summer Nights celebrations kick off Wednesday and run through July 31, featuring free nightly events throughout downtown.

“Summer Nights is a Nevada City tradition — the whole town comes alive,” says Cathy Whittlesey, director of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce. “It’s the must-attend event of the summer season — a real community party, showing off the best of NevadaCity.”

Summer Nights visitors can sit down for a meal at one of the city’s restaurants, unwind with some live music or just relax with a leisurely stroll around our stores and the top class craftsmen selling their wares on the street.

This summer’s live performances feature local bands like Achilles Wheel and Lorraine Gervais; favorite oldies with Then Again and Sergeant Funky; and don’t miss dancing the tango to Ivan Najera’s exhilarating Latin American infused set.

For the kids, there will be bouncy castles, face-painting and more to make sure that kids will have a great time at this family affair.

Nevada City will also be filled with arts and crafts booths featuring cool,one-of-a-kind gifts designed and produced by local artists and crafters as well as hand-picked out-of-town vendors. Special additions this year include a Broad Street Farmer’s Market with fresh, local produce and a different Classic Car Show every week. And don’t miss the exotic music and dance of Troupe Al Ama belly dancers!
