Man arrested after alleged gun threats in Grass Valley cardroom

A man was arrested after allegedly making threats to shoot people in a Grass Valley cardroom Tuesday afternoon.

Jesse Paul Ward, 32, of Burbank, allegedly was drunk in the business in the 100 block of Bank Street and became disruptive, said Grass Valley Police Capt. Rex Marks.

After employees refused to serve him alcohol, Ward allegedly threatened to use a firearm, gesturing that he had a gun in his belt.

He then said he had a gun in his car and was going to go get it, according to dispatch reports.

Police officers located Ward on Mill Street and arrested him without incident, Marks said. No weapon was found.

Ward was arrested on suspicion of making a criminal threat and assault and was being held in county jail in lieu of $1,750 bail.
