The Brunswick Certified Farmers Market is open every Friday at the Nevada County Horsemen Grounds in Grass Valley.
At opening night, May 17, about eight farmers offered a variety of fruit and vegetables.
This farmers market and the online farmers market is funded and produced by the Yuba Foodshed Alliance, a growing group of family farmers dedicated to sustainable farming and working with other farmers in the local foodshed to provide farm direct produce and other farm products.
Some farmers are certified organic and some are not, but all of the member farms are family farmers that have signed and abide by the Yuba Foodshed Alliance’s Farmer Pledge — not to use any products that contain GMO’s, always use sustainable farming practices, treat livestock humanely, using no antibiotics, reject the use of synthetic pesticides, pay a living wage and conserve resources. You can read the entire pledge at: http://farmfreshonline.com.
This Friday the Brunswick Certified Farmers Market will have more farmers and will take EBT (Foodstamps).
The Nevada County Horsemen Association hosts this event, and it is being managed by Grizzly Hill Organic Farm.
The Farm 2 Family Brunswick Farmers Market takes place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. every Friday afternoon.
