Get creative spark with mom

The Artist Studio in the Foothills and Grass Valley Wine Company will take their collaboration to a new level Sunday with a Mother’s Day SPARK! event.

From 2 to 4 p.m. the Paint Sisters — visual artists Lil McGill and Denise Wey — will be on hand to help moms tap into their creative side.

“With a glass of wine in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, leave your inhibitions at the door and explore your creativity together. Each participant will bring home a beautiful commemorative work of art,” said Amanda Paoletti, director/owner of ASiF.

The artists will provide the necessary materials for the mixed-media experimentation in what Paoletti describes as an easy going art happening.

Mesmerhythm will add to the atmosphere with live music. The group includes Arthur Gould on electric cello, Jim Rodney on guitar and special guest Robbert Trice on harmonica.

This special event is part of ASiF Gallery @ Grass Valley Wine Company’s collaboration that provides space for the art studio to showcase local artists’ work in the downtown location.

Shows at Grass Valley Wine Co. hang for two months. Currently, Betsy Lombard’s oil paintings are on display.

Sunday’s SPARK! event is $5 per person, with participants receiving a $1 discount on a glass of wine. wDrop-ins are welcome, with no pre-registration or prior art experience necessary, Paoletti said.

Grass Valley Wine Co. is at 128 Mill St.
