Miller exhibit featured by Smith Vineyards

Smith Vineyard, Tasting Room, and Gallery is currently exhibiting an installation of new paintings by Margie Miller from Feb. 27 until April 27.

The exhibit, “Hallelujah Junction and Other Paintings,” depicts large format scenes in acrylic and water media from areas east of the Sierra Nevada and northern Nevada.

“Over the years I have come to appreciate the often grey, stark vistas of the Great Basin and have interpreted them using highly saturated color,” said Miller.

A graduate from the art department the University of California, Davis, Miller studied under renowned California artists Wayne Thiebaud and William T. Wiley. Their bold use of color and whimsy has greatly influenced her work.

A long time art educator, Miller is a frequent presenter at The Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento and at workshops such as the recent High Sierra Painting Workshop in Graeagle.

Her most recent exhibit, Luminous California, was ordered by the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and featured at the Sacramento International Airport.

Her paintings are in private and public collections throughout the West.
