Ten wineries, eight of them local, will provide tastings Friday at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center's inaugural Wine Showcase benefit.
The local wineries are Double Oak Vineyards & Winery, Indian Springs Winery, Iron Mountain Vineyard, Lucchesi Vineyards & Winery, Nevada City Winery, Nevada County Wine Guild, Sierra Knolls Vineyard & Winery, and Smith Vineyards & Winery. The other two are Crystal Valley Cellars from Cosentino Signature Wineries in Napa Valley, and Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi in Lodi.
From 7 to 10 p.m., the Wine Showcase will also include hors d'oeuvres and desserts donated by restaurants and caterers, and a silent auction on unusual and vintage wines donated by local collectors.
One of the wine groups to be auctioned includes a Port Vertical produced by Robert Mondavi's wine-making team in Woodbridge Winery's beginning. Other items such as a wine backpack, art, books and a variety of other home accessories and garden art will be auctioned.
Pianist Greg Gavin and the string instrument trio "Emerald Mist" will provide background music.
Admission is $20, which includes a souvenir wine glass.
The Miners Foundry Cultural Center is at 325 Spring St. in Nevada City. Call the Foundry at 265-5040 for reservations and/or information.
