The Old 5Mile House is transforming its bar into the Neon Lounge for a new club experience in Nevada County. The Neon Lounge will be from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and will recur the first Friday of every month. Owner Robert Smith has installed cutting edge club lighting and has outfitted the space with black lights. He and artist friend Samantha Eastwick of Reno, painted Native American rock art inspired pictographs on the walls.
The 5Mile mixologists have created a list of artisanal, neon cocktails, (black light reactive). They also created several made from scratch neon, vitamin and mineral packed, exotic non-alcoholic drinks.
DJ Tony De La Torre will provide the mix of world, Latin, funk and swing beats to set the tone.
Attendees are invited to dress up with black light reactive outfits and paint themselves with black light reactive body paints. The guest with the best neon body art will win a bottle of Champaign. Neon body paints will be available and a body painting artist will be on site to adorn guests.
Tickets to Neon Lounge are $10 at Yobobo and Harmony Books in Nevada City, at The Book Seller in Grass Valley and at the door. Must be 21 or older.
