Equipment at Scotts Flat Reservoir that helps move drinking and irrigation water to much of western Nevada County has been repaired - at a cost of more than $211,000.A leak in an obscure but essential piece of equipment called a hydraulic actuator was discovered in May 2011 during a routine inspection, Senior Associate Engineer Doug Roderick said Tuesday. The actuator is a big cylinder filled with food-grade oil; it has a piston inside that moves a rod in and out which, in turn, opens and closes the underwater gate that lets water out of the reservoir.
