Food Truck Fest to raise money for nonprofits

A food truck festival is being planned for the end of June to capitalize on the gourmet food truck craze and raise money for local causes, including the Food Bank, at the same time.

The Enough to Spare & Share Food Truck Food Festival is set from noon until 6 p.m. June 30, at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley. This is a first-of-its kind event in Nevada County that will include 24 gourmet trucks representing every type of cuisine, including vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.

Although some picnic tables are available, families are encouraged to bring their picnic gear and spread out on the spacious lawn while enjoying live music provided by popular local bands.

Every patron bringing one food item for the Food Bank will receive $5 off the price of admission.

There will be loads of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Local bands will provide live entertainment throughout the day. Kids can enjoy a petting zoo and there will pet adoption opportunities galore. Face painting will be available for donations to the Make A Wish Foundation and carnival games will benefit other local causes. To top it off, a live auction will take place at 4 p.m.

Admission to the festival is $15 for adults, $10 for teens, $5 for kids ages 6-12, and free for children younger than 6. If you buy your tickets before June 1, you will receive half off each admission.

Tickets will be available online and at BriarPatch Co-op starting May 1. Email for more information.
