Facebook, text messages and online games all can be minefields for children, pocked with bullies and predators — yet the cyber world can be baffling for parents.
Families with children in third through ninth grades are invited to attend a class for both that will teach them ways to stay safe in today's digital world and what to do when problems arise.
The class will cover on-line safety, cyber-bullying and texting.
Family Life Educator Marlene Mahurin will lead the class for parents and their children in grades 3 to 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22.
A second class for parents and their children in grades 6 through 9 will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29.
Both classes will be at the Nevada County Superintendent of School's Office, at 112 Nevada City Highway, Nevada City. Cost is $10 per couple (one parent and one child).
Space is limited, so contact (530) 575-6582 or mmahurin@yahoo.com to reserve a seat.
