Just weeks after selling the historic Lola Montez House in Grass Valley to neighboring Emmanuel Episcopal Church, the Pioneer Association of Nevada County Trust donated more than $100,000 from that sale to six local non-profit organizations.
The six organizations included Anew Day, the Friendship Club, Friends of Nevada County Military, Nevada County Fairgrounds Association, Nevada County Historical Society and the North Star Historic Conservancy.
""Our board went to great lengths to meet the legal and ethical obligations of the trust, and to ensure that all recipients met the criteria spelled out by the Originator of the Trust," said Board President Eleanor Kenitzer. "We are thrilled that the proceeds from the sale of that Grass Valley landmark will be used to help make this an even better place to live."
Pioneer board members also included Dave Scinto, Larry Ingersoll, Anita Daniels and Jeff Ackerman.
