The committee to Elect Ed Scofield for Supervisor has announced that Scofield will seek a second term and run for re-election as a member of the Nevada County Board of Supervisors for District II, which serves Alta Sierra, Lake of the Pines and the southern part of Nevada County.

For the past three years, Ed has represented the citizens of South Nevada County at the top level of county government, and worked diligently on behalf of the citizens of Nevada County. Among his accomplishments as Supervisor, he has worked as a member of the Nevada County Transportation Commission to improve the safety of Highway 49 with the construction project at La Barr Meadows; he has worked with the residents of Dark Horse subdivision to resolve wastewater treatment, power, and financial issues; and he continues to work with neighborhood groups toward a solution to cannabis cultivation in residential areas. Additionally, he supported the Higgins Market project and saw it through the final approval at the County level, and he was involved in the Magnolia Road improvements that have helped minimize school traffic.

A Nevada County native, Scofield has been working in the public and political sector for more than 35 years. In 2008, he retired as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nevada County Fairgrounds after serving in that role for 25 years.  Additionally, he is a former Grass Valley City Council member, and has also served as past President of the Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, Western Fairs Association, and Rotary International of Grass Valley. He recently served as Chairman of the Board, and currently serves as President of the Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation, as well as a member of the Nevada County Transportation Commission.

Scofield, who resides in Alta Sierra with his wife, Carol, urges all to vote in the primary election in June.
