Donna Frances Young of Grass Valley died on Dec. 11, 2011. She was 77.
Donna will be laid to rest in Lassen Cemetery in Susanville, Calif.
She was born and raised in Susanville, Calif. A small-town girl who was seeking bigger adventures, she attended University of California, Berkeley, where she joined Alpha Gamma Delta, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1955.
In the following years, she worked in several different jobs, most notably as an elementary school teacher in Merced, Calif.
It was her love of children that became the focus of her life after she married Gene Young in 1959 and started her own family while residing in San Francisco, Calif. She chose to return to small-town life, when she moved with her husband and three children to Grass Valley, Calif. in 1976.
Donna was a beloved mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her gentle nature, sense of humor and fun, and engaging intellect.
Donna is survived by her brother, Dr. Lloyd Lambert and sister-in-law, Ora Marie Lambert of Cayucos, Calif.; her son, Dr. Mark Young and daughter-in-law, Roni Schwartz of San Francisco, Calif.; daughter, Jill Woods of Grass Valley, Calif.; and daughter, Pamela Majteles and son-in-law, Robert Majteles of Piedmont, Calif.; as well as her grandchildren, Miles Young of San Francisco, Calif., Emma and Lindsey Woods of Grass Valley, Calif., and Sophie, Lily and Joshua Majteles of Piedmont, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Young; her father, Milton Lambert of Eureka, Calif.; her mother, Amelia and stepfather, Eber Bangham of Susanville, Calif.
