Zen-flavored teachings and silent retreat offered
“Discover Your True Self” is the theme of the Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28 events at Grass Valley's Unity of the Gold Country. Mukti, a teacher of the lineage of her husband Adyashanti, will offer a 7 p.m. meeting on Friday and a separate all-day silent retreat from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Mukti joined her husband in co-founding Open Gate Sangha in the California Bay Area in 1996 to cultivate the awakening of consciousness in those who yearn for truth, peace and freedom. She has been greatly influenced by her background in Christianity, Vedanta, Zen Buddhism and Chinese medicine, and draws from those roots to point audiences back to the natural state of wholeness or undivided consciousness.

A group of local men is meeting every Thursday morning 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. at Penny's Diner for breakfast. Under the banner of “Christian Business Men's Committee” (CBMC, a non-denominational group), we have breakfast, read a portion of scripture, share what God has done in our life and pray. All within an hour. As a welcome break between weekends, these men encourage each other as they wish to encourage you in these trying times. Come and join us. We need each other.

Grass Valley AM AGLOW
Our local chapter of Aglow International, meets the second Tuesday of every month from 9:45 a.m. to noon at 336 Crown Point Circle, Grass Valley. Our speaker for the January 10 meeting is Jacqueline Turner, a bright young woman who is an amazing success story, demonstrating God's power to transform a life that has been broken and scarred by a difficult childhood. Christian Encounter Ranch played an important part in reestablishing God's plans and purposes in Jacqueline's life. Now she boldly shares, as his Poetic Prophetess, his wonderful transforming love. This meeting promises to be a great start to the new year as we witness one of God's "rising stars" in action.
Aglow is a wonderful opportunity for unity in the Body of Christ and is not "just for women" anymore! Take Brunswick Road to Whispering Pines Lane, left on Crown Point Circle and then right at Nevada County Board of Realtors.

The Healing Rooms of Nevada County
We pray for healing of body and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether they attend church or not. Come to the Main Lobby of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, 155 Glasson Way, Grass Valley on Thursdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is no fee and no reservation is necessary.

Pray Nevada County
We are seeking God on behalf of our communities. Open to all for Christian prayer, Pray Nevada County meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. to pray for our county governments and services, schools and families, businesses and media, and churches and parachurch ministries. Since August 1997, 15 to 25 people from eight to 12 congregations have met each week to pray for our communities. During the month of January, we will meet at Grace Lutheran Church, 1979 Ridge Road in Grass Valley (adjacent to Nevada Union High School on the west).
