A coalition of county residents is gearing up to mount a recall drive of two Nevada County Superior Court judges — Julie McManus and Candace Heidelberger.
The proposed recall of McManus stems from her continued absence from the bench. She has been on medical leave since March 3.
Heidelberger has attracted a great deal of negative press in the last week for her handling of the sentencing of a child molester to just one year in jail and five years supervised probation.
The recall is not targeting Presiding Judge Thomas Anderson, although he also recently sentenced a child molester to a similar sentence. Proponents of the recall drive would not comment as to why, but he is up for election next year.
The supporters of the petition have said they are not yet ready to go public, but said they planned to have the necessary signatures to file a notice of intention to cisculate a recall petition by next week.
