The dragon carving and topiary in the yard of Nevada County arborists Aero and Kara Acton will be featured on Good Day Sacramento at about 8:30 a.m. and again between 9 and 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, on KMAX Channel 31.
In late October, Foresthill carver Jeff Turpin carved a dragon out of the stump of a tree that had fallen under winter snow in the Acton's front yard a year earlier.
It joins another dragon that Aero Acton created out of three weeping blue Atlas cedars for the body, a smoke tree as the fiery breath and Japanese maples as the wings. The Actons light it up from Halloween to New Year's Day.
KMAX found out about the dragons from an article published in The Union.
You can see the Actons' creations at 12553 Mayflower Drive, on Banner Mountain east of Nevada City.
