Kylie Miraldi, a 2008 Nevada Union graduate, played her last game in a San Jose State Spartan volleyball jersey Monday, but she won't be saying good-bye without some accolades.
Miraldi earned second team All-Western Athletic Conference volleyball team honors Sunday.
Even with the confidence boost, the senior and her Spartan squad still couldn't find a way to win as they fell to New Mexico State in the first round of the WAC tournament.
Although the Spartans struggled to win all year, Miraldi was able to shine, putting up stellar numbers and performances all season.
This year, Miraldi nabbed the Most Valuable Player award at the Hilton-Stockton Invitational, set a Spartan record for blocks in a game with 14 and was second on her team in kills with 199.
But, all Miraldi's contributions couldn't help a Spartan squad that struggled this season, going 12-17 overall and 6-9 against WAC foes.
Taylor Japhet (Nevada Union '09) San Jose State — Japhet made her first appearance for the Spartans in over a month against New Mexico State Monday.
While Japhet played well, the Spartans would fall in three sets and be knocked out of the WAC tournament in the first round.
Japhet tallied nine kills and two digs in the loss.
The season is over for the Spartan volleyball squad, but there is always next year for Japhet, who has one more year of eligibility left.
