A California Highway Patrol officer who pulled over to offer roadside assistance to a woman on Highway 49 ended up arresting her instead.
The officer was on a routine patrol when she spotted a vehicle parked on the shoulder near Cement Hill Road at about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, said CHP spokesman Mark Morrison.
The officer pulled behind the vehicle to offer assistance and saw a woman with a filled marijuana pipe in her lap, Morrison said. She also allegedly smelled a “strong” odor of marijuana smoke.
The woman, identified as Shana Frances Robyn, 33, did not have a medical marijuana prescription, Morrison said.
Robyn showed the officer a glass jar containing a small amount of marijuana, but a search uncovered “quite a bit more,” Morrison said.
The officer allegedly found about 3 pounds of marijuana, as well some methamphetamine residue and items used for making hashish.
Robyn was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, transportation for sale, possession with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and possession of concentrated cannabis. She was booked and released on $50,750 bail.
