The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division-I football playoff brackets were released Sunday and the Miners grabbed the eighth seed and a home playoff game against Franklin (7-3, 3-2) of Elk Grove.
Nevada Union (7-3, 3-2 Sierra Foothill League) will host Franklin Friday night at 7 p.m. in the friendly confines of Hooper Stadium.
Nevada Union is 3-2 at home this season, beating Ponderosa, Monterey Trail and Roseville by a combined score of 117-43. In the Miners home losses to powerhouses Elk Grove and Del Oro, Nevada Union was outscored 58-38.
Franklin, out of the Delta Valley Conference, finished third in its conference and has a 5-0 record on the road this season outscoring its opponents 209-96.
The winner of Friday night's matchup will play the winner of the Lincoln (9-1) vs. Sheldon (5-5) contest that takes place Thursday night.

Bear River Bruins
The Bruins nabbed the ninth seed in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division-IV playoffs.Bear River (7-3, 2-3 Pioneer Valley League) will hit the road to take on Sonora (7-3, 5-2 Valley Oak League).
Sonora took third in its division behind an offense that racks up nearly 35 points per game.
It will be a good test for a Bruin squad that gives up just over 18 points per game.
Bear River backed into the playoffs losing to rival Colfax 48-0. The loss may have cost them home field in the first round. Colfax got the second seed in the bracket.
The Bruins are 4-1 on the road this season outscoring opponents by a total of 201-116.
The Bruins will face off against Sonora at 7 p.m. Friday at Sonora. The winner will take on the winner of the Escalon (10-0) vs. Marysville (4-6) matchup.
