Tahoe National Forest fire crews are responding to the approximately 10-acre Indian Fire burning about 1 mile south of Indian Valley Road in the Camptonville area, according to fire dispatchers.
The fire was called in by an area resident at about 11 p.m. Thursday, but fire crews didn't find it until early Friday morning, dispatchers said.
Four hand crews have been dispatched on the blaze, which is in an area that is difficult to access so firefighters are only able to respond to the flames on foot, dispatchers said. Engines are staging on Indian Valley Road and two tanker planes and a helicopter are assisting on the fire, dispatchers said.
There is currently no information available on expected containment for the fire.
