In a matchup of two Gold Country Senior Softball League heavyweights, Players Pizza defeated the Washington Generals 12-5 in seven innings on Tuesday at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley.
The visiting Players Pizza team jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the first out had been recorded in the game.
They added five more in the top of the second and had a commanding 11-0 lead before the Generals scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth.
The second-place Generals' bats sprang to life in last inning, as they plated four more runs, but it was too little too late, and the comeback was not to be.
Players Pizza remains in third place in the league, and both squads sit behind The Union in the league standings.
