Town Talk, June 30

Local television station NCTV will be broadcasting live at the Grass Valley Thursday Night Market beginning today, with weekly broadcasts through Sept.1. The television booth will be set up in the parking lot next to City Hall, at the corner of Auburn and Main streets. The show will air live from 7-8 p.m., followed by pre-taped GVTV News that can also be viewed from the booth.

Nevada County residents with cable TV can watch the Thursday Night Market broadcasts on Comcast 11 or Suddenlink 16. The program can also be viewed on the web by anyone with Internet access on NCTV's website at www.NevadaCountyTV.org.

Event coordinator and co-producer Randy Hansen says the shows will feature a host anchor plus live interviews with local business, community and political leaders.

NCTV's Executive Director Paul Minicucci will host the first broadcast. Scheduled guests tonight are Sandy Woods, Nevada County Fairgrounds CEO; Howard Levine, GV Downtown Association; and Ray Diggins, Thursday Night Market coordinator.

"We want to be where the action is and take a leadership role in community building," Hansen says. "With NCTV evolving into the Internet and digital arena, the Thursday Night Market offered a great opportunity for the community to see first-hand what our station can deliver with regard to diverse programming, technology, job training, and local information."

Future Thursday Night hosts include Hansen, Reality Check producer/host Lou Meyer and Cheryl Noble of Cafe Community. Upcoming guests include Robert Bergman, Tom Fitzsimmons, Hank Weston, Julie Baker, and Ed Scofield.

TouchDown Productions, known for their Game of the Week and delivering live coverage of the Fourth of July parade, will be broadcasting many of the Thursday Night Markets.

The presentation is set for 5:30 p.m. July 12 at Club 141, 141 Main St., Grass Valley. Cost is $15, with hors d'oeuvres and no-host beer and wine. Reserve your seat by the July 7 deadline at 273-6638.
