Third annual Wag ‘n' Walk set for June 12
Join the fun with your doggie companion(s) on June 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley, at AnimalSave's third annual Wag‘n'Walk and Costumed Dog Parade.“This event has grown each year and we expect this year's event to be even bigger” says Carolyn Niehaus, Executive Director.
Starting off the day's activities will be the Costumed Dog Parade — a judged event with prizes awarded for Best Costumes and Best Doggie Smile. There will also be agility and obedience demonstrations and AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing. Chef Steve will barbeque burgers and franks, Brownies will host a lemonade stand and Lazy Dog Ice Cream will be selling their famous fares.
More children's activities will be noticed this year, including a dog biscuit relay, face painting, and a dog puzzle contest. We're also offering a pet drawing contest for children age 5 to 13. The deadline for drawing submissions is Friday.
Winners will receive his/her choice of a mug or poster imprinted with their drawing. Winners will be announced at Wag ‘n' Walk.”
Vendors include local artists, Shadow Dance Photographers, Ridge Feed, other local nonprofits, doggie doctors and animal communicators. The event will offer activities of interest to everyone — especially your favorite canine buddy!
The $15 registration fee for the Costumed Dog Parade includes up to three dogs per family (each additional dog is $5). There is no charge if you want to attend the event and not participate in the dog parade.
All dogs must be well-behaved and, of course, leashed.
Proceeds from Wag ‘n' Walk helps AnimalSave carry out its important community service programs that transform the lives of cats and dogs through humane education, affordable spay/neuter services, and finding loving homes.
AnimalSave's Low-Cost Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic, Foster/Adoption Program and Low-Income Pet Food Assistance Program provide a continuum of care that prevents dogs and cats from entering the more costly and difficult shelter system.
