Hospice of the Foothills recognized a pair of community supports earlier this month, including Henry De'Corte', proprietor of the Washington Hotel in Washington, who presented a jar of cash donations Executive Director Vanessa Bengston following the Celebration of Life in memory of his wife Morgan (Mama Su) De'Corte' on April 2.

Family and friends of the long-time Washington couple filled the jar for Hospice during the afternoon memorial celebration. Bengston thanked De'Corte' and all those who made donations for their generous support of Hospice.

“These gifts will benefit our patients and their families and honor Mama Su,” Bengston said as she accepted the gallon jar from Henry De'Corte'.

Bill Blackwell Memorial Fund representative Rod Kahele presented a check to Bengston following the fifth Annual Wild Bill Shootout poker tournament at TOWERS Casino and Card Room in Grass Valley on March 2.

The charity tournament in memory of long-time Nevada County probation officer Bill Blackwell was sold out well in advance of the first hand.

Also benefitting from the event's proceeds was the launch of the Save-1-Pass-It-On Foundation, a start up fund to support programs for at-risk youth in Nevada and Placer counties.
