SCOTTS VALLEY — Bear River's girls basketball team were soundly defeated 82-48 Tuesday by Scotts Valley in the first round of the Northern California bracket of the Division IV state tournament.
Lady Bruins coach Jeff Bickmore said the team just came up against a tough opponent and they didn't play well.
“It's a tough loss but we had a good season,” Bickmore said.
Kelsey Uno led Bear River with 17 points. Sarah Hagar had 11 points and Lindsey Harter had nine.
Prior to Tuesday's long trip to the Santa Cruz County city, the Bruins lost in the semifinal game of Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV tournament to Calaveras 62-40. But they stayed alive for the state tournament by finishing among the top four teams in their section.
The Bruins conclude the season 25-6, 9-1.
