What do people who live and have fun in the national forests want from them?
The U.S. Forest Service will hold the second in a series of public dialogues to explore the values, attitudes and beliefs that help shape people's desires and expectations for their national forests.
Forestry officials hope to use public comment to organize a regional assessment, and Identify the issues to be addressed in the assessment, to support revisions of forest management plans in the Sierra Nevada and Cascade ranges.
Officials are calling the dialogue “an opportunity for learning, aligned actions and understanding different perspectives.”
This second dialogue will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Garden Pavilion Hotel, McClellan Air Force Base (just outside Sacramento), 5640 Dudley Blvd. McClellan, CA 95652. Parking is free.
The $20 registration fee includes lunch.

Future dialogue topics may include an all-lands approach to fire protection and ecological restoration; economic sustainability and community vitality; climate change; and monitoring and adaptive management.
