Davis edged out Nevada Union's Alpine skiers by a mere four points Monday at Northstar-At-Tahoe in spring-like conditions.
The Miners had a narrow lead before a lunch break, but lost out after the break in the seven-team competition.
Eric Green led the way for NU, finishing fourth in two minutes, six seconds in the giant slalom. He was followed closely by Pat Chapple (5th) at 2:09.79, Brian Biersdorf (13th) at 2:18.73 and Adam Harris (15th) at 2:20.56.
Nevada Union's girls ran the same course as the boys and were led by Marnie McDowell, who finished in fourth with a 2:14.09 finish. She was followed by Quinlan Grim (7th) at 2:15.09, Julia Ramirez (11th) at 2:19.13, Kendra Green (12th) at 2:21.79.
Open division skiers Riley Gandell finished in 11th place with a combined time of 2:50.52. Frank Ross finished first in the boy's open division at 2:42.44.
The Miners Alpine ski coach Ken Ramirez said he's thrilled with his team's progress so far this year.
“The entire team is showing great improvement every time they get on the slopes,” Ramirez said. “This has been a strong season for the Miners thus far and I have high expectations for the last three races heading into the state championships.”
NU has a combined point total through three races that puts it in the top spot overall, as it heads into next Monday's meet at Sugar Bowl.
