Parking: $5- Each car will receive a coupon book full of thousands of dollars in coupons to offset the cost of parking! 11am: APPLE presents: Introduction to Home-Scale Greywater Systems
Learn how to divert your household water from the laundry, sink, or bathtub into the backyard where it can be used on fruit trees and other plants in your landscape. Most households can save thousands of gallons each year by installing a simple, legal greywater system for the washing machine alone. Workshop taught by Matt Berry and sponsored by the APPLE Center for Sustainable Living.
11:45: Mud & Pearls presents: "The Demystification of Power Tools"
Women sometimes feel that they are outside of a special club inhabited by men, and that club is Power Tools. Samantha and friends from Mud and Pearls will introduce you to the secret world of skill saws, power drills, and other handy devices. Men are welcome to be inducted into this world during this demonstration as well!
12:20: Mud & Pearls presents: "How Do You Use This Thing anyways? Your Tool Belt and What's In It"
For those of us who pick up any old thing to hammer in a nail, this demonstration from Mud and Pearls will give you simple tips and hands on help with the basic tools in a tool belt. Do you know how to read 5/8ths on a tape measure? How to get a nail out with out denting the wall? Do you hanker after a tool belt and want to try one on? Especially designed for women, but open to men as well, this demonstration will be a bunch of fun.
2pm: APPLE Presents: Introduction to Organic Gardening
Learn simple organic gardening methods for soil management and integrated pest control to help make your garden healthy and vibrant. Co-taught by Patrick Rodysill of Garden Fare, a sustainable and organic land management and urban farming company, and Willow Hein of Living Lands Agrarian Network, a non-profit farming collaborative. Workshop sponsored by the APPLE Center for Sustainable Living.
2:30pm: APPLE presents: Introduction to Backyard Composting
Get hands on and practical advice for home scale composting, including advantages of various composting methods, gathering and combining different materials and basic trouble shooting solutions. Co-Taught by Patrick Rodysill, Garden Fare, and Matthew Shapero of Living Lands Agrarian Network. Workshop sponsored by the APPLE Center for Sustainable Living.

12pm: A to Z Supply Presents Mason Beekeeping
Join A to Z Supply with an informative on how to build, maintain and where to place your mason bee house in your garden. Learn all about Mason bees and how you can easily start beekeeping at any home! Learn what to look for when looking for Mason bees, their habitats and what to do year round to attract them. A to Z will teach you everything from the supplies needed to start Mason beekeeping and how to build your own Mason bee houses at your house! So, join A to Z and learn something new.
1 pm: Mud & Pearls presents: "Wood: Split, Chop, and Cut It"
We may be surrounded by wood but most of us buy our firewood. In this demonstration, Samantha from Mud and Pearls will show you how to use a chainsaw, maul, and hatchet. While most of us live in the forest, many of us don't know how to get our own fuel. Special emphasis will be for women, using the correct tools and hands on time will be available for hardy souls wanting to split, chop and cut wood.
2:15: APPLE presents: Introduction to backyard chicken keeping
Just this spring Grass Valley and Nevada City passed ordinances allowing backyard chickens. Learn the specifics of what's allowed in each town and how to be compliant with your applicable ordinance. In addition, this workshop will cover basics of getting started with chickens, including coop building, buying chicks vs. pullets, feed, care and resources when you need help. Workshop sponsored by the APPLE Center.

The weekend will include plenty of fun activities for the whole family! So, while you are out talking to the pros about your next home renovation or enjoying the many workshops this event has to offer, the little ones can stay entertained all weekend long!

Pro vs. Joe's BBQ Throwdown
Get ready for a Smokin' good time with the Pro vs. Joe's BBQ Throwdown presented by the Penn Valley's 3rd annual Smokin' in the Oaks BBQ State Championship & the Penn Valley Rodeo Association. 1pm on both Saturday and Sunday-across from the food court. Get the chance to be crowned the Home Show BBQ King and test your BBQ skills against BBQ Pit Master! The Contestant will Prepare BBQ Chicken wings and a Rib eye steak for our home show celebrity judges.
