Harvey Kuecker of Penn Valley died December 11, 2010 with his family by his side. He was 94.
Harvey will be remembered by his family at a private service on January 2, 2011 with a celebration of life to be announced.
Harvey was born in Marengo, Illinois to George and Lillian Kuecker. He grew up in Marengo and Wheaton, Illinois. He served with the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 in active service, much of itin Europe and from 1945 to 1962 in the reserves, retiring as a Major in 1962. During that time Harvey had many experiences as an Army Artillery Observer Pilot and will be remembered for the great experiences he shared with his family and friends from his military service.
Harvey married the love of his life Dorothy in 1947 and their marriage lasted for 60 years until her death in 2007. In Illinois Harvey acted in many local theater performances and was highly praised by local critics. In 1951 he moved his family to Southern California, fi nally settling in Tustin from 1955 to 1988. In 1988, Harvey and his wife Dorothy retired to Penn Valley. Harvey worked for Pacifi c Mutual Life (now Pacifi c Life) from 1938 to 1988 as a Life Agent and retired with distinction. He was the President of the Orange County Life Underwriters in 1957 and he
was a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). He was a member and active participant in the Elks Club for much of his life. Harvey loved airplanes and fl ying and continued this activity well into his 70's.
He will be fondly remembered for his wit and poetry along with his cheerful and friendly personality. He was preceded in death by, his beloved wife Dorothy and his sister Charlotte.
Harvey is survived by his son Bruce, his daughters Wendy and Barbara, his daughter-in-law Linda
and his sons-in-law Stan and Bruce. In addition, he is missed by his granddaughters Jennifer and Meghan along with his grandsons Evan and Clay and great-grandson Orien, along with numerous nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law Betty.
Harvey was deeply loved by his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Harvey will be interred with his wife Dorothy at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Nevada City.
In lieu of fl owers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Foothills in the name of Harvey Kuecker.
