The Ceramics Annual of America: Exhibition and Fair at Herbst Pavilion at Fort Mason in San Francisco will hold an opening reception, 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 9. The exhibit will continue from Sept. 10 to 12.

Grass Valley artist Carmen Lang will participate in the show with new sculptures.

The Ceramics Annual of America is part of California's continuing legacy of excellence and innovation in ceramics. The goal is to encourage the education and enrichment of the public, thereby promoting awareness of the ceramics community, cultivating a fertile art market and fostering dialog between collectors and makers of contemporary ceramics.

The Ceramics Annual of America (CAA) is an ambitious new exhibition and fair spotlighting the quality and diversity of contemporary ceramics in the Americas. The first event of its kind in the United States, the annual is modeled on the Ceramic Biennials held in Europe, Korea, Japan and China. The Ceramics Annual of America will provide a venue for regional and national artists working in the clay medium to show their work to a broader group of collectors.

Panel discussions, lectures, tours and demonstrations will be held throughout the exhibition. The fair will also include the historical exhibition, “Harold Paris' Walls of Mem” with a lecture discussion on the work from artist, Jim Melchert, and art historian, Peter Selz. “Artistic childcare” will be provided by the exploratory ceramics program Kids N' Clay and is offered throughout the weekend.
