The Sierra Nevada Group of the Sierra Club is hosting Gary Noy and Rick Heide, the editors of “The Illuminated Landscape: A Sierra Nevada Anthology,” at its monthly meeting Sept. 17.
Noy and Heide will read from “The Illuminated Landscape” to accompany a PowerPoint presentation of photos and other images excerpted from the recently released compendium of writings about the Sierra Nevada. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Noy, a Sierra Nevada native who has taught history at Sierra College since 1987, is the founder and director of the Sierra College Center for Sierra Nevada Studies and editor-in-chief of the Sierra College Press. Heide is the editor of Under the Fifth Sun. He was a member of the San Francisco Bay Area publishing community for more than 25 years and now lives in the Sierra Nevada foothills.

All are welcome and admission is free. Come early for a coffee and cookie social starting at 6:30 p.m. Coffee and hot water for tea will be provided and cookies will be on sale to benefit a high school scholarship fund. Announcements begin at 7:15 p.m., followed by the presentation.
