The Nevada County Amateur Radio Club is turning 50 years old.
Nevada County supervisors honored club members with a plaque, presented to club President Walt Hannontree at their meeting on Tuesday.
“Some would think that continuing a service club to obtain 50 years would be arduous work,” said member Richard Miller of Colfax, who received his own telecommunications license two years ago. “But we have a ball.”
The club is the local chapter of the national Amateur Radio Relay League, which has “played a great roll in amateur radio history,” Miller added.
Anyone interested in club activities or in joining can contact Miller at
