We were delighted to read the July 23 article about the work we are doing to establish “Stroll and Roll” clubs in Grass Valley.
However, based on calls we've gotten, there seems to be some confusion about them.
“Stroll and Roll Grass Valley” is for seniors and people with disabilities who live in one of the following areas: W. Main, near Lyman Gilmore and downtown; on Sutton Way or Old Tunnel Road; or in Morgan Ranch.
While we know there is interest in including other neighborhoods, for now we are focusing on those three areas.
We are recruiting club members and three peer club leaders (one for each area).
If you fit the criteria and want to join others in a weekly “Stroll and Roll” in your neighborhood, please contact us.
The leaders will receive a small stipend for specific tasks related to maintaining their club and advocating for environmentally safe and accessible neighborhoods.
Both leaders and members will receive T-shirts, pedometers and water bottles.
For more information or to sign up, call Jeannie at FREED, 265-4444 or Cynthia with the Falls Prevention Coalition, 263-1776.
