Board members, teachers and students turned dirt in Nevada City today as construction began on the Seven Hills Middle School Bicycle Recycle workshop. The project is being funded by a $1.4 million anonymous donation.

The program's elective classes teach pre-teens how to fix old bikes, which are in turn donated to needy children and adults.

Sierra Foothills Construction has the main construction contract for the building, while subcontractors C&D Contractors and Mountain Electrical Construction are working on the project this week.
