Grass Valley man jailed for Placer arson cases

A trio of accused arsonists including a Nevada County man were in the Placer County jail Sunday on bails of $500,000 or higher.

Two Colfax women and Julias Bagley, 27, of Grass Valley, were arrested on suspicion of setting a series of late July grass fires in Placer County, according to Calfire.

Arrested along with Bagley by Calfire investigators and Placer County Sheriff's Detectives were Jasmine Marler, and Cheyenne Brady, both 19. Brady also has a Foresthill address.

Bagley's bail was set at $545,000, with Marler and Brady's at $500,000, according to a jail spokeswoman.

All three are slated for arraignment at 1 p.m. Monday in Department 17 of the Placer County Superior Court, which is a courtroom attached to the county jail.

The trio is suspected of setting fires July 18 through July 20 in the Bear River Campgrounds County Park, the Mineral Bar Campgrounds on the American River, and on Ben Taylor Road near Colfax Elementary School and Colfax High School.

The fires were suppressed quickly, Calfire said. No further details were available Sunday.
