Crosby Tyler appears at Dave's Cave in Auburn Friday.
A naturally gregarious character, Crosby Tyler involves his audience from the moment he sets foot on stage, inviting them into the neighborhood he lives in, sharing his enthusiasm for Big Bill Broonzy and Leadbelly, getting them to sing along to songs about cotton and other crops, and mixing the light-hearted with the sincerely and movingly personal.
A storyteller (in his own words, a balladeer), his songs in the style of old folk blues artists regales with hard times, car hopping and running from the law. With guitar and harmonica and a splendid well-worn voice Tyler buzzes on the feedback from the crowd.
Dave's Cave is hosted by New Faith United Chuch of Christ. Refreshments and desserts available for purchase.
