Herbert Fischer died Wednesday, Dec. 2 in Grass Valley of heart and lung complications. He was 82.
A church service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at United Methodist Church, 209 N. Jefferson St., Dixon. A military service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon. Following the services, a gathering for refreshments will be hosted at Bryan Braker Funeral Home, 131 S. First St., Dixon.
Mr. Fischer was born June 15, 1927, in Dinuba, Calif.
He married Roberta Fischer on Oct. 11, 1947.
Mr. Fischer retired from Dow Chemical in 1982 after 35 years, and Mr. and Mrs. Fischer moved to Grass Valley in 1983.
He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church in Concord and Penryn. He enjoyed Nevada Union High School football games and was lucky enough to see his grandson Jaret play for the Miners. He also spent time working outdoors and in the vegetable garden.
Mr. Fischer is survived by his wife, Roberta; children Ron, Herb, Rick and Jo Ann; daughter-in-law Debbie; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and sister Florence.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Fischer's name may be sent to Hospice of the Foothills.
