We are expecting at least 25 people from western Nevada County will rally for peace at noon Wednesday on the west steps of the state Capitol in Sacramento.

Volunteers at the Nevada County Peace Center are organizing carpools to the rally and march.

They will be joining a million people participating in events planned on six continents. Participants are calling for an end to war and violence, and especially an end to the growing nuclear threat haunting the world.

The World March launched by World Without Wars has been endorsed by Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama, Jimmy Carter and other Nobel Peace Prize winners, hundreds of world leaders and celebrities including Yoko Ono, Cate Blanchett, Viggo Mortensen and Martin Sheen.

The Nuclear Abolition Flame, lit from the embers of Hiroshima, will be carried by the marchers throughout their journey.

At the recent Nobel Peace Summit in Berlin, Nobel Laureates handed the World March International Team the

Charter for a Nonviolent World, charging them with disseminating this groundbreaking document throughout their journey.

Nevada County residents Lily Marie and Monique Golden are members of the Peace Center of Nevada County. The center has a new location, 216 Main St., downtown Nevada City; (530) 265-0200; contact ncpeace.org or ncpeace@sbcglobal.net.
