Trash collection delayed 1 day by holidays

Waste Management of Grass Valley/Nevada City announced the following service information and weather collection information for the 2009 Holiday Season:

Holiday collection

Residential and commercial collection service in Grass Valley, Nevada City and Nevada County will be delayed one-day on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

All customers regularly scheduled for service on these days will be serviced the following day. Friday residential and commercial services will be serviced on Saturday.

Collection service will return to normal beginning the week of January 3, 2010.

Winter weather collection

As we head into the winter months, Waste Management of Grass Valley/Nevada City wants to remind customers to employ safe driving practices when maneuvering wet and icy roads. At Waste Management, the safety of our customers and our drivers is a priority, and if severe weather prevents us from safely collecting, we will temporarily halt our collection until conditions improve.

“Here in Nevada County we can count on occasional snow and ice during the winter months,” said Steve Cameron, Waste Management District Manager. “We will do everything in our power to continue waste and recycling service collection during this time, however, if we encounter a severe storm, we will not risk the safety of our customers or our drivers.”

If weather conditions prevent Waste Management trucks from safely conducting routine service collection, we will collect twice the allotted amount of material on the next scheduled service day the following week.

“We want to thank everyone for their understanding and patience during the winter months,” said Cameron. “The safety of our customers and our drivers is our number one concern.”
