“Rethinking China”
Reader Gloria Novak will be presenting her experiences traveling and teaching in China at 7 p.m. Friday in the Community Room at the Madelyn Helling Library, 980 Helling Way, Nevada City.
Gloria's passion for the country and culture of China began during her college years at UC Berkeley, and was recently reawakened when she filled in for a friend on a trip to the country.
Inspired by her visit, she found a position teaching English at Guilan University during the 2006 and 2007 school year.
“I hope the photographs of the places I visited, of my students and friends there, will begin to convey the source of my China reawakening and rethinking,” Gloria says.
This free event, sponsored by the Lake Vera/Round Mountain Neighborhood Association, will feature refreshments, and is open to the public.
