Lyra Dominguez is a trained soprano, specializing in opera and art songs.
After her lead role in the recent CATS production of “Flower Drum Song,” Lyra relocated to the Twin Cities area, and now performs locally with various music and theatrical groups.
Ms. Dominguez has appeared in numerous shows since 2005, from nonprofit concerts to opera, including Sacramento Opera productions: Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Puccini's Turandot, Verdi's Aida, Bizet's Carmen and Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance. Lyra is a recipient of the Birdsall Award for her role as Tuptim in Magic Circle Theatre's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I and a nominee of the William Shakespeare Award for her role of Sally Brown in Stockton Civic Theatre's production of You're a good man, Charlie Brown.
Lyra is currently performing as a vocalist and a percussionist for the band, Kekoa and Company, a local Hawaiian Reggae band in the Nevada County area.
Ken Getz, the pianist for the event, is on the board of directors for Sierra Stages community theater, and has been musical director for each of their musicals, including the most recent “She Loves Me.”
The concert consists mostly of Broadway songs, some well-known, others more obscure gems, also contains a few popular operatic arias.
