Memorial services will be held for Loretta M. Friesen at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Grass Valley.
Mrs. Friesen was born on July 2, 1910, in Kansas to John and Alice Buchenau. She passed away on Nov. 16 at the age of 99.
Mrs. Friesen had worked in the real estate business for more than 40 years before her retirement. She was a member of the Abundant Life Fellowship Church and was known as the “Pie Lady of Nevada City” for her award winning apple pies. She enjoyed bingo, gambling, baking apple pies and trips to Disneyland.
She is survived by two nephews, Steve and Russell Plumb of Nevada City; daughter-in-law, Gale DeLoretta of Grand Junction, Colo., and sister, Mary Buchenau of Van Nuys.
She was preceded in death by her son, Frank DeLoretta and sister, Verna Plumb.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in
Nevada City.
