The Nevada County Economic Resource Council and Golden Capital Network, together with Citizens Bank of Northern California, have announced highlights for the inaugural 2009 Innovation Showcase to take place Nov. 17 at the Association of Realtors Building in Grass Valley.
The showcase will feature venture capitalists, angel investors and industry experts who will speak about raising capital and growing companies.
A prime feature of the showcase will be short presentations by up to 10 start-up and early-stage growth companies seeking funding.
A panel of investors, CEOs and professional service providers will serve as judges and select a top local start-up as part of the event. In addition, the event will feature special guest speakers who are experts in how entrepreneurs may benefit from the federal stimulus package and in the rapidly growing clean-tech industry.
Start-up and early-stage growth companies that would like to be featured at the showcase, which begins at 5 p.m., should submit an executive summary no longer than three pages via e-mail to gil@ncerc.org by Thursday, Nov. 12. Selection of presenting companies will be notified on Friday, Nov. 13.
The showcase is intended for anyone attempting to start or grow a business in Nevada County and is part of the ERC's effort to promote the growth of local businesses. It is also for local angel investors and successful business executives who are interested in getting involved with local high-growth potential start-up companies. Venture capitalist and angel investors will be available to provide advice to start-up business and to offer mentoring to companies on capital creation.
