Rosella “Dolly” Williams, passed away on Oct. 10 at the age of 102.
Memorial services will be held at Hilltop Commons in Grass Valley at a later date.
She was born Feb. 2, 1907, near Glen Ullin, N.D., of immigrant parents. She was one of nine children
She was a beauty operator in the 1920s. She married Roy Hunter, a commercial artist, but after 14 years of marriage, she was widowed. She married Mearl Williams, who farmed in Nebraska and Kansas, until his death.
She lived alone in Kansas until she moved to Grass Valley four years ago to be closer to her niece.
She lived at Hilltop Commons four years. She enjoyed her independence and the activities and support provided to her by the staff. She loved to play bingo, but enjoyed drawing, reading, sewing, knitting and playing bridge for many years.
She is survived by her niece, Colleen McKinnon, great- niece, Andrea Hensel-Nine and nieces and nephews in Ore., Calif. and the Midwest.
She was predeceased by her husbands Roy Hunter and Mearl Williams and eight siblings.
The family is being cared for by the staff of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
