Smoke from multiple fires in Lincoln and Roseville was visible to Nevada County residents Wednesday afternoon,
A 60-acre fire at Sunset and Foothills boulevards was contained at 1:40 p.m., according to a fact sheet released by Calfire. Athens Boulevard had been closed and there were voluntary evacuations in the Duluth Avenue area. Sixteen engines, two air tankers, five water tenders, one helicopter, three hand crews and three dozers responded from Calfire, Placer County, Roseville, Pleasant Grove, Rocklin and Tahoe National Forest fire departments.
There was a six-acre fire burning in the area of Hungry Hollow and Fruitvale roads in Lincoln that began around 11 a.m. in grassland and oak woodlands. The fire was continuing to burn at 2:30 p.m. with winds pushing the fire in a southwesterly direction, toward the downtown area. Home were threatened in the area, although no structure fires have yet been reported.
Nine engines, two air tankers, three water tenders, a hand crew and a dozer originally responded from Calfire, Placer County, Lincoln and Tahoe National Forest fire departments. At 2:30 p.m., there were still eight engines and two water tenders at the fire.
