Nevada County Recycles has expanded the free used tire recycling event this year to all three local transfer stations — McCourtney Road, North San Juan and Washington.
This is your chance to dispose of used tires you have in the garage and yard, or any you see abandoned along the road. Used tires are eyesores, a potential fire hazard, attract dirt and harbor mosquitoes. Take as many as nine rimless tires from passenger cars, SUVs or light trucks (no tractor, semi or heavy equipment tires.)
Tires can be recycled from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 10-11 at the McCourtney Road Transfer Station, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 9-11 at the Washington Transfer Station and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the North San Juan Transfer Station.
Used Tire Amnesty Days are funded by a grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board. For more information about tire recycling, visit www.nevadacountyrecycles.com or call the recycling hotline at 265-1768.
